#7 Loper Volleyball Sweeps #13 Ichabods in Topeka

The seventh-ranked Nebraska Kearney volleyball team hit .330 to overwhelm 13th-ranked Washburn (-15, -13, -17) Saturday night in Topeka.
The Lopers (13-1, 2-0) win a 13th straight match in three sets while the Bods (11-3, 1-1) lose at home for the third time this fall.
It was all UNK from the opening serve as the Lopers jetted out to a 17-9 lead and never looked back. All-American outside Carly Purdy (North Platte) had 18 kills and hit .410 with fellow outside Grace Schmedding (Olathe, Kan.) and right side Brynn Stowell (Olathe, Kan.) almost as effective. They combined for 17 kills and hit over .300. Overall, the Lopers out hit the ‘Bods by almost 330 points thanks to eight team blocks and 43 digs.
Schmedding (14) and libero Ellie Spang (13) led the backrow in digs with middle Sydney Davis (Dannebrog) stopping five balls at the net. Finally, freshman Ellie Eckman (Lincoln) had 27 assists.
UNK is home the next two weekends, facing nationally ranked Emporia State and Pittsburg State next.
