The Bison broke open a scoreless game in the top of the fourth with four runs on five hits. North Dakota State greeted Creighton reliever Jakob Ruhl with four consecutive RBI knocks to storm ahead.

NDSU responded with a run in the sixth, but Creighton's Rocco Gump drove a two-run to left-center.

North Dakota State, however, plated five runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to break the game open.

Gump was lone Bluejay hitter with two hits or more, closing the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

The starters for each side were the pitchers of record as Creighton's Max McClellan was tagged with the loss (2-1), allowing two runs on one hit and four walks in 3.1 innings. Bison starter Garrett Shupe picked up the win (1-1) with three innings of scoreless ball.
