(Crete, NE) – Looking to build off of their three-set win at Dakota Wesleyan, the Broncos did just that with a sweep at Doane (25-18, 25-15, 25-16) on Saturday afternoon.

Hastings built a 5-2 lead on a kill by senior Mikah O'Neill and grew the lead to five at 10-5 when junior Makenna Sutter hit a kill. Doane made it 11-8, but Hastings went on a 8-3 run to take a 19-11 lead. At 20-15, Sutter got another kill and won a couple of points on her serve, including an ace to go up 23-15. Leading 23-18, senior Ilse Benne ended the set with back-to-back kills, making it 25-18.

With the Tigers leading 7-6 in the second set, the Broncos won four straight points to go up 10-7. Still leading by three at 16-13, Sutter got a kill and hit a couple more aces on her serve as part of a 5-0 run to go up 21-13. At 22-15, two kills by junior Kaleah Olson set up a set point, which senior Camryn Ringsdorf took advantage of with a kill to win the set, 25-15. Hastings hit .484 in the set, finishing with 17 kills and only two errors. O'Neill had five kills in the set, along with four kills from Olson.

In the third set, Hastings took control early, as O'Neill had three kills in the first nine points to go up 5-4. They won eight of the next nine points to go up 13-5 on a block by sophomores' Fran Warson and Londyn Carnes. Leading 15-9, Hastings won the next four points to get a double-digit lead at 19-9. Doane made up some ground late in the set, making it 23-16, but a Tigers service error, followed by an attacking error ended the match at 25-16.

O'Neill ended with nine kills on a .368 hitting percentage. Sutter had eight kills on a .318 hitting percentage and added 11 digs. Carnes had seven kills and three blocks, while Olson had six kills and hit .313 on the day. Warson finished with 37 assists to lead the team and junior Lainey Benson also contributed 12 digs.
