(Lincoln, NE) - The No. 8 Nebraska softball team posted a seven-run first inning to spark a 11-5 win over Rutgers on Sunday at Bowlin Stadium. With the win, the Huskers swept the series and moved to 30-6 (11-1 Big Ten) on the season.

Head Coach Rhonda Revelle recorded her 1,200th win at Nebraska with the victory today. She has a 1,200-686 record with the Big Red.

As a team, NU outhit Rutgers 14-6 on the day. Jordy Frahm led the Husker offense with three hits, two of which were triples. With those two triples, she tied the Nebraska single-game record. Ava Kuszak also logged three hits and had two RBI, while Kacie Hoffmann had two hits with an RBI. Lauren Camenzind homered and Kuszak and Hoffmann each hit a double. Nine Huskers recorded at least one hit.

Frahm (10-4) also earned the win in the circle, as she threw the final three innings for the Huskers and allowed no hits and no runs while striking out six. Hannah Camenzind grabbed the start and threw the first inning, and Alexis Jensen added three innings with three strikeouts.

Rutgers opened the scoring, aided by a pair of Husker errors in the top of the first. Nebraska struck back immediately, as Frahm walked, Hannah Coor singled and H. Camenzind was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kuszak singled to score Frahm and a Hoffmann fielder’s choice sent Coor across the plate. Hoffmann stole second before Jensen singled to score H. Camenzind and send Hoffmann to third. A fielder’s choice from Jesse Farrell sent Hoffmann home and L. Camenzind’s three-run homer wrapped up the seven-run first inning for the Big Red and made the score 7-2.

The Scarlet Knights added a run in each of the second and third innings to cut the lead to 7-4. In the bottom of the third, Coor walked and went to third on a H. Camenzind single before scoring on a Kuszak double to put NU up 8-4.

Rutgers posted another run in the top of the fourth, but the Huskers saw a three-run fifth inning to put the nail in the coffin. Frahm tripled and scored on a Coor sacrifice fly. Kuszak and Hoffmann hit back-to-back singles before a Bella Bacon single scored Kuszak and a Samantha Bland single scored Hoffmann.

The Huskers will hit the road next weekend to take on Wisconsin in Madison, Wisc. The first game on Friday, April 10 is set for 7 p.m. (CT) and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
